Maite Perroni is expanding her international footprint. In an ambitious move, Lionsgate has snapped up the foreign cable and streaming rights (outside the U.S. market) for ‘Belleza’, a Spanish-language feature film starring the Mexican actress and singer. The deal, which marks a notable expansion for a project that has not even hit theaters yet, was structured with Paul Presburger’s Miércoles Entertainment, a company deeply tied to Lionsgate’s longstanding Pantelion and Pantaya ventures.
Directed by Nadia Ayala Tabachnik and produced by BH5 Studios and Miércoles (in co-production with Spain’s Secuoya Studios), ‘Belleza’ is a female-driven, multigenerational dramedy. The narrative follows a woman confronting the heavy social pressures surrounding physical appearance, self-esteem, and contemporary beauty standards. It is a sharp, compelling premise, particularly coming from an actress who built her early fame on the polished surfaces of telenovela stardom.
Regional Roots, Global Scope: Though filmed in Colombia, ‘Belleza’ is a Mexican-American-Spanish co-production, featuring a cross-border cast that highlights its deliberately broad regional ambition. The stellar ensemble surrounding Perroni includes: Fernanda Castillo, Claudette Maillé, Diego Klein, Arap Bethke, Mónica Dionne and Arturo Ríos.
While Lionsgate handles international distribution across SVOD, AVOD, FAST, and cable platforms outside the United States, theatrical distribution within Mexico will be managed by Cinépolis.

A New Chapter
For Perroni, ‘Belleza’ lands at a pivotal moment of artistic evolution. Following a powerhouse run that included the global Netflix hit ‘Dark Desire’ and extensive film work spanning Mexico, Spain and the United States, her post-RBD career is consolidating around riskier, more international roles rather than retreating into familiar territory.
This acquisition is less a one-off deal than the start of a sustained pipeline. ‘Belleza’ represents the first title in a broader, upcoming slate from Miércoles Entertainment to be distributed globally by Lionsgate, with subsequent titles from BH5 and Secuoya Studios already deep in development. The global market is watching—Spanish-language cinema has just secured a powerful new pipeline to audiences worldwide.
